Project Brief

A multi-function greenhouse robot is under development by our group within the SOUP (SOilless culture UPgrade) project, to aid in the automation of inspection, pesticide application, and harvesting tasks in hydroponic tomato cultivations. The robot consists of an electric-powered wheeled mobile platform with a vertical mast lift, a manipulator arm with custom end-effectors, an electric sprayer unit, and various sensors (multi-spectral camera, depth cameras, magnetic guide sensor, wheel encoders) supporting the autonomous operation of the system. The robot’s software implements a ROS-based distributed architecture, with the main controller running on an industrial PC.
